The Research And Teaching Practice Of Chinese Characters In Elyon International Christian School(Elementary) Of Surabaya, Indonesia

Elyon International Christian School of Surabaya Indonesia, most Students here are Chinese descendants.Chinese is one of the characteristics of Elyon, master Chinese characters reading and writing ability are the basic requirements of the Chinese language teaching at this school.How about Chinese learning attitude of Students here?What’s their learning difficulty? This article is from the author’s personal practice, based on the introduction of Chinese teaching background, research on students about learning Chinese characters, interview their Chinese teacher,and discussed with operators, in order to show all aspects of Elyon’s Chinese characters learning, worked out some way to adapt the Chinese characters teaching methods.Through the investigation, Elyon school students learning Chinese characters has the following features:students’ learning attitude is poorer, memorization ability is not strong; Students’ learning needs are diversification; Students’ Chinese characters written by the negative transfer of mother tongue influence, Chinese descendants children perceived ability can help them learn the Chinese characters; Students’ Chinese character component consciousness are weak, Chinese learning in intermediary state; Reading ability is stronger than writing ability, Pinyin writing ability is poor.Based on the author’s personal teaching practice, as well as to the Chinese character teaching theory, principles, and children’s cognitive psychology, the following kinds of Chinese characters teaching, practice, the test method is suitable for the students:new words teaching can use situation into method, associative learning method; Chinese practice can use group tasks method, game method, traditional teaching method; Chinese test can choose to see pinyin dictation, writing Chinese characters, writing bishun order, radical methods such as group of words.
