On Social Work Intervening And Research Of Frustrated Businessmen

As a career to help disadvantaged group and solve social problems, social work aims toenhance the social well-being and promote social development. Social work providesprofessional services for the poor, the elder, the disable and other groups, as a consequence,improves social function, social welfare and social harmony.As a class rising after The Reform and Opening, the businessmen take charge of a lot ofeconomic, political and social resources. Businessmen are supposed to be appeared as anaggressive group (vested interests) in public, thus their circumstances seldom come in sight ofa social worker. However, differentiation does exist in any group. As the vulnerable groupsamong the businessmen, the frustrated ones meet more severe economic, psychological andphysical problems than the normal. They are confronted with larger psychological difficultiesthan the poor, and larger economic difficulties than the elder. Under multiple pressures,frustrated businessmen find it more difficult to physically meet the challenges of society likethe normal.This article focuses on the frustrated businessmen, the disadvantaged group ofbusinessmen and chooses Mr. W in DB County in GD Province as a case. The situation of Mr.W and relevant people are fully understood by literature reviews, in-depth interviews andother methods. Then a professional relationship between the author and Mr. W is established.The author conducts the research from the Strengths perspective, Empowerment theory andSocial support network theory, to help Mr. W solve various problems in the interaction withthe environment, re-build self-confidence, and eventually get involved in the community, starta normal life.I hope this article, as a template of social workers’ intervention studies into frustratedbusinessmen, attracts more attention of social workers on frustrated businessmen, to helpthem solve the problems, and guild them restore their social functions.
