| Purpose:By investigating the teenagers’daily physical exercises and behavior patterns and testing their physical quality in downtown Chengdu, this project aims to discuss and analyze the relationship and interaction between the teenagers’daily exercises and their physical quality, so as to learn the teenagers’body development in Chengdu. And ultimately this project will serve as the theory basis and experimental materials for the national research on the youngsters’daily physical exercise and energy consumption level. Method:In the course of research, the methods of literature, investigation, and field test and data statistics are used. According to the Puberty Development Scale (PDS), the puberty is divided into three stages—the early stage, the medium stage and the late stage. Investigation is made on the teenagers’ physical exercises and their daily habits and physical fitness test conducted.Results: Static physical exercises of teenagers in downtown Chengdu mainly include taking classes and doing their homework. They spend the most of their spare time watching TV, extra reading follows, and taking bus the least, which are in accordance with that in the whole country. In the early, medium and late stages of their puberty, teenagers taking half an hour’s daily exercise account for88.08percent,91.32percent, and47.85percent respectively, while that of one hour’s exercise represent47.71percent,45.67percent and19.13percent respectively. Generally their exercising hour declines with age. In20m shuttle running, their scores grow with age, but boys’ with significant difference in the three stages (p<0.05),girls’have no significant difference in the three stages. So is the case in grip strength, vertical jumping and uttanasana, but girls’vertical jumping scores with little difference in vertical jumping in the early and medium stage (p>0.05), also boys’uttanasana scores with little difference in vertical jumping in the early and medium stage (p>0.05), and dramatic difference in the other tests (p<0.01). In grip strength and vertical jumping, boys obviously outperformance girls (p<0.01) while in uttanasana girls perform better and with noticeable difference in medium and late stages (p<0.05).Conclusions:In early and medium stages of puberty the teenagers’daily exercising hour has reached international standards, but only47.85percent of them meet the standard in the late stage. Their performance in20m shuttle running is in accordance with the research result home and abroad. So the aerobic exercise ability of the teenagers in downtown Chengdu is generally satisfactory. Boys’ muscle strength of both upper and lower limbs is superior to girls’, while girls more softness than boys. Their ways of physical exercise in the questionnaire correspond with their physical fitness test results. The teenagers are recommended to spend more time in daily physical exercise, especially moderate and high intensity exercises. |
