The thesis was divided into three parts, including Introduction, Analysis of Research, and Countermeasures. With the new curriculum reform is deepening, the individualized and varied elective course of Chinese are seen in the language curriculum reform of senior high. As the first experimental district of the new curriculum reform, Guang Dong has witnessed the highlight in the implement of elective course. However, HeYuan, being a remote city of GuangDong Province, shows great difference between the developed cities of Pearl River Delta regarding the development of economy, the source of students, teachers, and even teaching materials. As a result, how to put the elective course into practice in Senior High of such a remote and poor city is a serious problem we should deal with in the first place. With the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the current situation and the existing problem and summarizing the effective suggestions of elective course, a research was carried out among the Senior Highs of five counties and one district in HeYuan, including TianJia Bing Experimental Middle School of HeYuan, DongPu Middle School of YuanCheng District, Dong Yuan Middle School of DongYuan County, HePing Middle School of HePing County, TianJia Bing Middle School of LongChuan County, and ZiJin Middle School of ZiJin County.According to the research, after the new curriculum reform, the implement of elective course in Senior High, sometimes appearing as a mere formality, is not so optimistic. There are three factors involved:1) teachers’insufficient knowledge of elective course;2) incomplete content and organization of elective course;3)lack of effective teaching strategies. In author’s opinion, improving the current situation of implement can be conducted by the following ways:1)we should change the attitudes towards cognition, and balance the relationship between obligatory course and elective course as well as the elective course and College Entrance Examination;2) the elective course can be optimized by reasonably arranging opening time and teaching material, well preparing for course, and strengthening training of teachers;3) besides improving the teaching of elective course, we should also diversify our thinking, vary teachers’ position. enriching teaching methods and setting up a comprehensive assessment system.
