Nowadays, culture is becoming a more and more important source of nationalcohesion and creativity; it is also one of the most important factors of thenational comprehensive strength competition. The higher vocational educationis an important constituent of our country’s higher education system, whichundertakes the heavy responsibility of cultivating millions of professionalpersonnel in the fields of production, management and services. Constructinga unique culture is an intrinsic request to improve the higher vocationaleducation quality of teaching and the level; it is also an important assuranceto realize the goal of cultivating personnel.At present, the majority collegescan realize the importance of cultural construction which is considered to bea key to promote its core competitive power. But, we also should see, parts ofhigher vocational colleges haven’t established their own characteristic schoolculture due to the short development stage and the influence of its own historicalorigin, different region and its development trend.After presenting the theatrical knowledge study of school cultureconstruction, this thesis takes Heyuan Polytechnic as a case study with themethods of interview, narrating, reference to the documents and case study.Through the analysis and thought of the culture construction practice of HeyuanPolytechnic, the thesis discusses the present situation of the cultureconstruction in the terms of its contens, special features and culturalcultivation practice, In order to provide reference for cultural constructionin Higher Vocational Colleges in the underdeveloped areas in Guangdong Province. The first part of the article mainly introduces the reasons of selectingthe topic, the research significance, the literature summary, the researchcontent and the research techniques; The second part analyzes in detail thetheoretical base of constructing special school culture in Polytechnics,narrating its connotation, contents, main functions and special features,analyzing the basic way of cultural cultivation to lay the theatrical base forthe third part. The third part analyzes the current situation of culturalconstruction in higher vocational colleges, points out the existing problemsThe fourth part mainly introduces the experience and the practical achievementsin the process of constructing characteristic school culture.
