American College Test Center Single-sex Vocational Interest Questionnaire (UNIACT) Preliminary Amendments

As an important factor of career choice, occupational interests have been concerned by researchers. Unisex Edition of the ACT Interest Inventory (UNIACT) is developed by the center of America College Test (ACT). The latest revision is revised in2004. This research revised UNIACT. The researcher surveyed1200college students in Jiangsu, Shangdong, Hebei province. After translation and measuring of three times, the scale of English edition is revised the scale of Chinese edition. Specific conclusions are as follows:(1) The scale. The formal scale accomplishes after25items are changed. It includes6dimensions, every dimension has12items. Therefore, this scale has72items, and uses3-points to rate.(2) Gender-Balanced analysis. All of the72items with a gender difference in like responses is less15%, the highest is14.1%, the lowest is0.2%. T test showed that the different gender’s scores in6dimensions don’t exist significant differences.(3) Reliability analysis. The internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach-a) of total scale is0.903;6dimensions’a are between0.820and0.865; after2weeks, the test-retest reliability coefficient of total scale is0.859, and test-retest reliability coefficients on6dimensions are between0.818and0.855.(4) Validity analysis.Content validity:Every items of the formal scale is juged by psychologist, the content validity of the scale is guaranteed.Structural validity:Exploratory factor analysis. Sale is exacted6factors, every factor includes12items, all the items are in the presumed dimensional, six factors explained42.021%of the total variance; Correspondence Index (CI)=0.472, the agreements account for73.6%.Predictive validity:The correlation coefficient between congruence and satisfactory is0.672, the hit rate of6dimension is between37.1%and66.7%, the average hit rate is52.0%.Differential validity:All the six types students get the highest scores on the corresponding subscales.Congruent validity:The correlations of6corresponding dimensions between the formal scale and Vocational Interest scale by the center of Taiwan college test are between0.613-0.799.(5)The norm is established. Norms of scores of college students of Hebei province is provided.
