As the Chinese become popular, more and more people start to learn Chinese. I am lucky to teach elementary students Chinese in the United States of America, the school lies in Georgia state, Macon city, Bibb county. I have more than200students who are from4years old to10years old. My paper is mainly about how to use the modern teaching resources to help the students to learn Chinese single-character.Chinese characters are just like pictures to the America students at the first sight. And single-character is just like the stick figure to them. It is right to start from the stick figure as the introduction to the Chinese characters. And with the help of the modern teaching resources, single-character can be alive and intuitive to the students.In the first part of the article, I introduced the reason why I write the article, what is the article about, what methods do I use, how is the situation about the study now. In the second part, I did a survey about how would the modern teaching resources influence the single-character’s learning among6-10years old students. And I found that, there are5types of mistakes that the students will make:wrong stroke, missing stroke, wrong stroke-relationship, wrong structure and loose structure. Among these5mistakes,6years old students made the most wrong-stroke mistake;8years old students made the most wrong-stroke mistake;9years old students made the most missing-stroke mistake;10years old students made the most wrong-stroke mistake. Comparing from the6years old students to the10years old students, we will find out that9years old students made the least wrong-stroke mistake;8years old students made the least mistake on the rest of the mistakes.In the last two parts, I am trying to give some suggestions on how to solve the five problems that we found in the survey with the help of modern teaching resources; at the same time, I am trying to give some suggestions on what should we notice when we are using the modern teaching resources, like modern teaching resources cannot be used too much; use it when it is really necessary; teachers can use it together with students; we cannot forget the traditional resources.
