Scientific literacy is one of the indicators of understanding of the scientific research and the scientific methods. Studying the objects through the construction of model is a logical method and means of recognizing things. Some scientists put forward:"model is the core of the modern scientific methods". The number of models in the high school biology curriculum is abundant.Making full use of these resources can increase students’ understanding of models and modeling, improve the their thinking ability and skills. However,the attention paid to modeling In the high school’s biology teaching has not been enough,and the related teaching contents and depth of the (?)search has certain limitations. Therefore, the research which is operability strong about modeling-teaching in the high school biology is necessary.The first part in this article describes the basic theory of high school biology teaching model. It details the main concept, characteristics, classification and the principles of construct,and get a summary of the theories in pedagogy and educational psychology thereunder the model-based teaching,to construct the theoretical basis for this study; then to investigate the present status of the biological modeling-teaching.Here the author designs two questionnaires for high school teachers and students respectively.The results are analyzed to present a preliminary understanding of the school biology modeling-teaching, in order to improve and develop the teaching method.Finally, the author put the idea of modeling into practice using the method of action-research in different types of classes. It contains the application of physical model, mathematical model and concept model in the biological teaching. After test,the researcher measured the academic performance of students in the experimental class and the control class.Significant difference was found after statistical analysis with SPSS software.After the implementation of teaching of several teaching units, the measuring result found that the academic record of the experimental class was79.1and that of the control class was69.6. Significant difference was found through statistical test (P<0.01).This shows that the teaching method can improve students’ academic record to a certain extent.The research results are as follows:the objects showed different extent of fancy on all kinds of models;the biology teachers lack the ability of instructing the activities on model-constructing but the most of them have confidence on it;the modeling-teaching not only improve the students’ interest in learning, optimize the students’ structure of cognitive,but also strengthened the students’ consciousness of method,changing the teachers’ teaching conception.
