The construction of professional courses is very rapid with the development of secondary vocational and technical education. But as a cultural foundation course, Chinese language course loses its position in school curricula, showing a trend of marginalization. The phenomenon of student weariness and teacher burnout in vocational education is common, which is not conducive to the cultivation of students’ comprehensive quality, making strong requirement for the teaching reformation. In this project, from a practical level, the teaching and learning situation of Chinese language course was investigated, and the problems were sorted out through a questionnaire for teachers and students of three secondary vocational schools in Shanghai and Anhui. Secondly, from the theoretical level, course objectives, course content, teaching strategies, curriculum evaluation, etc. of the vocational language courses were analyzed, looking for an entry point for the teaching reformation. Some useful practices were also done. The research results indicate that, in view of the low overall level and great dispersion of vocational students, the target of Chinese language courses for Secondary Vocation School should be as enhancing students’ language literacy, pursuing for human cultural care. Accordingly, we should choose the right teaching methods and evaluation criteria to achieve these goals from the view of quality education. In teaching methods, appropriate teaching strategies and methods according to the content of teaching language courses, the student’s learning style, the student’s professional features, etc. should be selected, putting aside the model of general high school education. In teaching evaluation, test score should not be the only criteria. Different evaluation criteria should be combined to ensure the effectiveness of the Chinese language course as improving students’ reading and writing skills, improving students’ language literacy.
