The purpose of environmental education in kindergarten is to help the kids betterunderstand the relationship between the nature, environment and human life,enlighten them on the environmental awareness on the basis of their own lifeexperience, teach them elementary environmental protection knowledge and thenpromote the formation of their consciously eco-friendly behavior. Environmentaleducation in kindergarten, the most fundamental and important in the entireenvironmental education system, is of great significance in promoting the kids toform positive comprehensive environmental protection quality and even in theconcept of environment protection in their whole life. However, there still exist someproblems in the current environmental education in kindergarten. Therefore, this study,on the environment-themed picture books as a media to promote environmentprotection education, will try to find out a suitable education model and work out apractical scheme, providing reference for the practice of environmental education inkindergarten.This study, adopting the action research method, will make research on the kidsin the Senior3class in kindergarten “A “in Jinan, capital of East China Shandongprovince and try to explore how to use environment-themed picture books as a mediato promote environment protection though observation, interview and case study.First of all, this study will make analysis of the value and application status ofenvironment-themed picture books, and illustrate the necessity and availability ofusing environment-themed picture books as a media to promote environmentprotection. Secondly, this study will determine the goal and the content of educationaccording to experience and unique characteristics of kids and also ofenvironment-themed picture books, and then organize the practice. And this thesiswill finally make an evaluation of the teaching process and effect. Like this, this studywill put theories into practice twice and again, the education plan put forward byteacher H being put into practice after reflection in the process of data collection,preparation, practice and extension. This study will make evaluation on the teachingeffect by various kinds of methods like detailed observation on these kids and recording, and will reflect and discuss on the growth of both teacher and the kids aswell.
