A Research On Resilience, Self-esteem And Subjective Well-being Of Students Of Secondary Vocational Schools From Countryside

When the percentage of students of secondary vocational schools among youngster group rises every year, the group of students of secondary vocational schools has become a group that cannot be ignored. Students of secondary vocational schools have different psychological features compared to the students in normal middle schools while among them the students from the countryside are different from the students from cities. Therefore, students of secondary vocational schools from countryside, as a particular group, should be paid attention to in terms of their psychological health.This study takes students of secondary vocational schools from countryside as the research object, applies the Resilience Scale for Chinese Asolescents made by HU Yueqin and GAN Yiqun, Self-Esteem Scale identified by TIAN Lumei project and the General Well-Being Scale modified by DUAN Jianhua to analyze the students of secondary vocational schools from countryside, studies the current situation and the influence factors for the resilience, self-esteem and subjective well-being of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside, analyze the correlation among resilience, self-esteem and subjective well-being. The results show:(1) The overall rating in resilience of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside is on medium level. Among the factors, the goal planning factor and positive thinking factor rate high while affect control factor, help-seeking factor and family support factor rate medium. The resilience of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside varies greatly according to different family monthly income while it varies little according to gender and grade.(2) The overall rating in self-esteem of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside is on medium level. The self-esteem of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside is affected by the grade they are in. The lower grade students have lower rating in self-esteem compared with the students in higher grade. This rating does not vary much according to gender or family monthly income while it varies prominently under the interaction function of gender and grade.(3) The overall rating of subjective well-being of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside is on medium level. It varies obviously according to different family monthly income. The students whose families have the monthly income of "2000-3500" rate much higher than the students with "lower than2000"; the difference between gender and grades are not obvious while it varies a lot under the interaction function of gender and grade.(4) The overall rating of resilience and self-esteem of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside are significantly positively correlated. Among them, the goal planning, positive thinking and family support are significantly positively correlated with self-esteem. The highly rated individuals in resilience are also rated higher in self-esteem.(5) The overall rating of resilience and subjective well-being of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside are significantly positively correlated. Among them, the goal planning, positive thinking and family support and affect control are significantly positively correlated with subjective well-being. The highly rated individuals in resilience are also rated higher in subjective well-being.(6) The overall rating of self-esteem and subjective well-being of students of secondary vocational schools from countryside are significantly positively correlated. Among them, the highly rated individuals in self-esteem are also rated higher in subjective well-being. (7) Resilience and self-esteem have significant predictive effect for subjective well-being. The individual resolutions are respectively4.7%(a. R2=.047) and9.2%(a. R2=.092). Under the function of resilience and self-esteem, the resolution of subjective well-being is increased to11.1%(a. R2=.111)(8) Under the function of self-esteem, family support and positive thinking, it has significant positive predictive effect on subjective well-being. They together resolute12.1%(a. R2=.121) of the subjective well-being.
