Geography is a knowledgeable, comprehensive subject,at the same time,with practice, applied geography another outstanding characteristic is that itapplies to the practice and is close to the real life. Therefore, in the newconcept of geography teaching, the most important idea is "learning usefulgeography for life". Let the students "learning really useful geography for life",on the one hand, need to let the students attach great importance to theeducation of geography, cultivate students interests in learning geography; Onthe other hand,we need to continuously improve the teaching methods,cultivate students geographical thinking ability and practical ability, to create agood geography teaching atmosphere, mobilize the enthusiasm and initiativeof the students to learn geography, offer the students more independentactivities, practice and experience.However, as a matter of fact, high school geography teaching still takesteachers as the main body of the widespread teaching method,examination-oriented education teaching is still in a dominant position.According to these problems, the author practices the "inquiry learning"teaching mode,which greatly mobilizes the initiative of students, is also veryhelpful to improve the students interests in learning geography, but thegeography test scores are not greatly improved. In this situation, the authoradopts the "target guiding, inquiry learning" teaching mode, so that it can exertstudents subjectivity and enable the geographical scores to be significantlyimproved.Teaching practice shows that the goal is the core and soul of the teachinggoal, to carry on the classroom inquiry activity and make the teaching moreeffective, the process of "the goal guidance, inquiry learning" teaching mode isas follows: narrates the teaching goal, according to the selected target toexplore the theme---solve the problem based on goal–select teaching case-target evaluation---summary of the practice. In a word, the teaching goal isthroughout the teaching process, it plays a leading role in the "inquiry learning".In target to let the students explore the target bravely, make the studentsbecome the master of the class. Through the "inquiry learning", it can let thestudents learn to discover problems, to cultivate the ability of solving problemsby themselves, learn to use geographic knowledge to solve geographicproblems around them, and find joyfulness in research, cultivate the interestsin learning geography.
