Improving people’s scientific literacy is a pressing matter of the moment withthe rapid development of science and technology in today’s times.Geographicalscientific literacy is an important component of scientific literacy.It possesses boththe common characteristics of public scientific literacy and the uniquecharacteristics of geography.It includes five elements as geographical scientificknowledge,geographical scientific ability,geographical scientificmethod,geographical scientific spirit and geographical scientific consciousness.Thefive elements of geographical scientific literacy is composed of an organic wholeof mutual penetration,mutual connection and mutual influence.Development of geographical scientific literacy of the student is the need ofdevelopment of era.The formation of geographical scientific literacy is a longprocess,and all stages of our life are accompanied by the process of the formationand development of geographical scientific literacy.The science teaching about theearth and the universe in primary school plays an irreplaceable role in thegeographical scientific literacy training.The science teaching about the earth andthe universe in primary school is systematic and coherent with the geographyteaching in junior high school.They cannot be isolated.It is full of reality andnecessity to integrate the teaching of science in primary school and geography injunior high school.Then,the development of geographical scientific literacy of the student can be effectively promoted.This paper is of great theoretical significance.Base on the integrative analysisof science teaching in primary school and geography teaching in junior middleschool,the study on the geographical scientific literacy of pupils in scienceteaching is conform to the trend of geography teaching theory.It is conducive to theexpansion of studies on geographical scientific literacy,and provide a newperspective and a new method to study the geographical scientificliteracy,enriching the theory of geography teaching.This study also has greatpractical value.It would promote the level of geographical scientific literacy of thestudent,and promote the implementation of effective teaching.It is conducive to theimprovement of the quality of basic education.It is conducive to promote publicscientific literacy level of the whole society.It is also conductive to the promotionof teachers’ quality improvement.This paper focus on the following four aspects.Fist of all,study on the status quo of domestic and international research ofgeographical scientific literacy by the method of document study and comparativeanalysis,so as to determine the evaluation index system of geographical scientificliteracy of the student.Secondly,design questionnaire from the five aspects of geographical scientificliteracy,as geographical scientific knowledge,geographical scientificability,geographical scientific method,geographical scientific spirit,andgeographical scientific consciousness,combined with pupils’ learning status ofearth and space science and their life experience.Then,pupils from the third to the sixth grade in our school are investigated to understand their status of thegeographical scientific literacy,to find out the deficiency and problems,and to takemeasures to improve the geographical scientific literacy of pupils.Then,integrate the curriculum standards and textbooks of science in primaryschool and that of geography in junior high school,in light of the present situationof geographical scientific literacy of the student.First,comparatively analyze thecurriculum standards of science in primary school and that of geography in juniorhigh school,from four aspects as the nature of the course,the basic concept ofcurriculum,the objective of curriculum,and the objective of content,to obtain theenlightenment of geographical scientific literacy training.Then comparativelyanalyze the textbooks of science in primary school and that of geography in juniorhigh school,from five aspects as the general picture of the earth,globe and map,thematerial of the earth,the movement of the earth and the change caused by themotion of the earth,to obtain specific measures for training geographical scientificliteracy in the earth and space science in primary school.Finally,place the enlightenment in teaching and make inspection andcorrection,so as to obtain the countermeasures for developing the geographicalscientific literacy in science teaching in primary school.Mainly include aspects asfollowing.First,enhance the study interest,and improve learning efficiency.It is crucial to properly use video,pictures,stories,riddles,life examples whichare associated with the questions.Use a wide variety of activities to stimulate theirinterest.Use encouragement and evaluation properly. Second,make full preparations before class and use inquiry teaching model.Fully prepared before class.Teachers determine the focus of the studyaccording to the pupils’ cognition and problems.In the exchange activities afterinquiry,put forward other questions to make pupils think deeply and promote theirgeographical scientific thinking.Third,encourage pupils to conduct long-term research,to promote thesustainable development of geographical scientific literacy.Lead the pupils’ awareness of the importance of long-term research,andmastering the methods of long-term research in the medium and long term ininquiry activities.Cultivate the spirits as persevering,being not afraid ofdifficulties,daring to challenge.Guide the pupils to actively participate in long-termresearch activities.Fourth,pay attention to the geographical problems,and guid the student tolearn to observe things around them.Adhere to the principle that science come from and is in life.Guide the studentto gain new knowledge in life.Guide them to obtain various resources in life in thelight of the question that will be studied on in class.Then,the new found both insideand outside the class need to be applied to life,and we can use them in analyzingvarious geographical phenomena and solving geographical problems in life.Fifth,use multimedia techniques in teaching to break through the limits oftime and space.Introduce materials from all time and countries in the use of multimediatechniques.Appropriately introduce more materials in a limited time to improve the efficiency of inquiry learning.Sixth,recommend extracurricular science books to improve the geographicalscientific literacy of the student.Recommend to the pupils a variety of extracurricular science books about theearth and space science,on the basis of the pupils’ learning situation.Provideeffective guidance to the pupils about their reading.Enable the pupils to improvetheir geographical scientific literacy in the extensive reading.Seventh,carry out rich and colorful extracurricular activities according to thesituation of China and the local geography,such as visit and investigation.Carry out a variety of extracurricular activities in the form of the earth andspace science interest group.Lead pupils to Carry out some visits and field studiesfor edutainment and continuous development of the pupils’ geographical scientificliteracy.This thesis explore the method of geographical scientific literacy training inscience training in the primary school to find specific and feasible measures whichcan guide the science teaching in the primary school and play a very good effect onthe pupils’ geographical scientific literacy,by means of integrating the scienceteaching in primary school and the geography teaching in junior high school.Morecomprehensive and in-depth analyses should be made on the integration of scienceteaching in primary school and geography teaching in junior high school in futureresearch,and more measures would be found on geography teaching in junior highschool to promote.The research will be just as profound.
