The unceasing development between South Korea and China makes their internationalexchanges more close day by day in various fields such as politics, economics, culture,etc.In South Korea where the interest in Chinese language is growing, the number of peoplestudying Chinese has been increased rapidly. Recently the age ranges of the learners aregetting younger. As the Chinese education for elementary school children is being developedfast, the Chinese teaching materials for children are being published continuously. Amongthe distributed teaching materials, it is unfortunately difficult to find a trulyappropriate one for elementary school students in South Korea. Therefore, the guidelinefor Chinese teaching is not established and school teachers suffer from difficulty inpreparing class.To assist Korean teachers and elementary school students, in this paper, we compare andanalyze Chinese teaching materials written in South Korea which are selected as beingsuitable for Korean children.)This paper consists of four chapters as follows.In chapter1, we explain the reasons for selecting subjects to research and introducethe significance of this paper, the research method, and the related works.In chapter2, we begin with explaining the meaning of teaching material followed byintroducing the characteristics and the principles when teaching foreign languages tochildren. We also suggest the standards for analyzing given Chinese teaching materials forchildren while introducing Chinese teaching for children and its relevant teachingmaterials.In chapter3, we compare “Haobbang Child Chinese1” with “Delicious Child Chinese1”with respect to overall structure, unit organization, pronunciation, topics, wording,culture, and communication followed by summarizing the similarities and the differences.In chapter4, as conclusions, we wrap up the comparative results for the twoaforementioned teaching materials and propose the directions of editing for Koreanelementary school student teaching materials for Chinese language.
