As the rapid development of China’s higher education, it promotes the construction of the local colleges, as the service window of the local college, the academic staff is an important part of local college education, and plays an important role in the development and reform of education.To fully stimulate and maximize the potential of the academic staffs of local colleges, this paper provides a strong basis to build up an effective incentive mechanism through surveys, and lays a good foundation for upgrading education quality and sustainable development in local colleges.Taking the academic staff of Putian University as an example, this paper proposes the incentive mechanism problems of the academic staff that needs further study and improvement. Through incentive theories, questionnaire and individual interviews, this paper firstly describes the current incentive mechanism of academic staffs in Putian University, and analyzes the demand structure and incentive factors of academic staffs, then summarizes the existing problems of the incentive mechanism and the root causes in local colleges. Based on above analysis, and combined with the previous incentive theories and practice, this paper establishes incentive mechanism for academic staffs in local colleges, and finally come up with countermeasures to improve the incentive mechanism from different perspectives of physical, spiritual, policy and environment.
