Illustrations are organic parts of the Chinese textbooks, they are important Chinese teachingmaterials. Illustrations are intuitive and multifarious, so that they play an irreplaceable role in theChinese teaching, which text cannot be. Illustrations have the auxiliary function, they make thecontent of the Chinese textbooks more flexible, they bring more operable and attractive materialsfor teachers, and they bring more auxiliary materials that can be used for reference for thestudents. What the importance are the illustrations! These important function has become moreand more concerned and researches about the illustrations appeared.The thesis takes the high school Chinese textbooks of the current person teaches forinstance, and classifies the illustrations into different category. From the basic situation of theillustrations to start, and summary their characteristics, combine the teaching practice to discussthe important functions of the illustrations. That is the illustrations can provide the auxiliaryinterpretation for the textbooks; the illustrations can provide the rich teaching materials for theteachers; the illustrations can help the students preview the text in the books, and so on. On thebasis of these, the thesis also puts forward some reflection about how to use the illustrations toteach the Chinese in the new period. First, the teachers can use the illustrations to organize theteaching; second, the teachers can use the illustrations to training the spoken language in Chineseof the students; last, the teachers can use the illustrations to developing the students’ writingabilities. In the end of the thesis, by researching the illustrations I find that the illustrations in theChinese textbooks have some problems in their arrangement. Such as the form of the illustrationsis too dull; the contents of the illustrations are different from the contents of the Chinesetextbooks. So I offer some suggestions to solve these problems.We can find some results by researching the illustrations of the Chinese textbooks that inthe past the illustrations of the textbooks are ignored by teachers and the functions of theillustrations have not been fully used. The old type of the Chinese teaching takes some centralsentences and words as the key of the teaching, they think that by reading these sentences andwords the students can understand the feelings of the author. In fact this is not the excellentteaching. The excellent teaching can not only make the students understand the meaning of thetexts, but also teach the students the method to analysis the texts. Using every methods to enterthe author’s heart by reading the text repeatedly. The excellent teaching should make the studentsfeel the glamour of the Chinese and improve the quality of the Chinese on themselves.
