Problems is the heart of mathematics, problem solving is the core content of mathematics teaching. Mathematics learning depends on problem solving, problem solving is a process of consolidate and deepen the understanding of mathematics knowledge, is an important way of cultivating the ability to analyze and solve problems,is an important way of promoting the development of mathematical thinking. The tuition-free normal university students’ current situation of solving mathematical problems directly related to their teaching work in the future. A certain level of mathematics problem-solving ability is one of the basic qualities of a good teacher. In mathematics education tuition-free normal university students’ability of solving mathematical problem should reach a certain level after four years of professional course learning. Through the review of previous literature,we that tuition-free normal university students’ learning motivation is not strong. So, we urgently need to research the tuition-free normal university students’ current situation of solving mathematical problems.This article we mainly research the tuition-free normal university students’ current situation of solving mathematical problems, in the background of free teacher education policy and the new curriculum reform of basic education. The main contents of this research:To test the situation of tuition-free normal university students’ability of solving mathematical problem with investigation method; The test results show that the tuition-free normal university students’ ability of solving mathematical problems is not optimistic, part of them behave generally,and part of them even have a tendency to decline.Analyze the present situation of tuition-free normal university students of solving mathematical problems, from four aspects:(1)the test scores;(2)The basic mathematical ability in solving problems;(3)the basic process of solving problems;(4)mathematical thinking quality.Analyze the cause of tuition-free normal university students’ current situation of solving mathematical problems:(1) The influence of the exam-oriented education in middle school;(2)The problems in university teaching;(3)The students themselves don’t realize the importance of problem solving.To improve the tuition-free normal university students’ ability of solving mathematical problem, the practical Suggestions are put forward.(1) pay attention to the communication in the teaching of higher mathematics and elementary mathematics.(2) reform the course structure, strengthen the study of the theory of problem solving;(3) construction of knowledge network, improve the ability of mathematical thinking;(4) pay attention to the reflection after problem solving, summarize the problem solving experiences and lessons;(5)encourage mathematics exchanges, in the study of elementary mathematics.The innovation and features of this paper (1) New perspective, for the first time we investigate the tuition-free normal university students’ situation of solving mathematical problem, this is a new research perspective;(2)thinking wide, In this paper, we adopt many research methods, make the combination of theory and practice, focus on the specific analysis of solving problem process;(3) practical:This paper analyzes the reason of the tuition-free normal university students’ situation of solving mathematical problems, in order to improve tuition-free normal university students’ situation of solving mathematical problem, we provides much practical advice.
