"Alleviating the burden on students" is a long-standing problem, and over last50years from1955to2013, the ministry of education has issued reliving burden for many times. Although the administrative department of education and schools have done lots of work in terms of reliving burden, from the overall, the consequence is not very ideal.Nowadays, the ministry of education has drawn up the provisions of article10of the pupils (draft) in August22,2013, and sought for advice on the Internet. The " leaving no written homework at primary school "has caused the concerns of the parents and teachers.This paper, closely related to the latest movement, and combining with the consideration of Chinese homework, comes up with my own ideas of innovative assignment. Innovative assignment is to carefully select and design the homework, making the contents conform to the requirements of the Chinese language;That is to make Chinese homework more interesting and diversified, and make its form conform to the psychological characteristics elementary student’s. That is to change the wrong ideas from teachers and parents, making the homework meet the demand of current development. The innovative assignment will help to change the situation and really ease the burden on students. The thesis is divided into five main parts and the main contents are as follows:The first part mainly makes clear the connotation of homework, clarifying the nature of the burden. Then, it points out the deficiency of alleviating the burden by reviewing and analyzing relevant provisions on the homework from the past and recent alleviating the burden. Finally, from the nature of Chinese, physical and mental characteristics of students in elementary school, and the angle of homework, it puts forward a standpoint that only by assigning Chinese homework innovatively, can alleviating the burden on students be achieved.The second part is to understand the existing disadvantages of Chinese homework arrangement in the primary schools and to analyze its reasons through the questionnaire survey and interviews.The third part is to raise the idea that directing at the flaws, under the guidance of the quality education theory, the theory of multiple intelligences and the theory of the zone of proximal development, the innovation can be achieved from the concept of assignment, the ways of completing the homework and the contents and form of Chinese homework, and to tell the three marked characteristics of innovative assignment:less homework, more interest, high efficiency.The fourth part is to give the specific examples of innovative assignment from the innovative content and form (listening, speaking, reading and writing), and innovative way (independence, cooperation, exploration).The last part mainly discusses that full cooperation from schools, teachers and parents will be needed to ease the burden through innovative homework.To a conclusion, from the angle of homework and homework reformation, we must change the incorrect standard of measuring based on the length of time and the quantity of homework. We should give full play to the role of the teacher by focusing on physical and mental development characteristics of students at the elementary level. Only in this way, can students learn something in the process of finishing their homework, so as to reduce the burden of students.
