Homework assignment, one of the teaching links which bridge the teachers’teaching and students’ learning, not only help teachers understand students’ mastery ofknowledge so that they can adjust teaching activities according to the feedbackinformation, but also help students consolidate the knowledge、develop good habits, andcultivate positive learning attitude. Therefore, it is worthwhile to pay close attention toit. However, only those good and reasonable homework assignment can play a positiveand effective role in students’ development and teachers’ teaching; Vice versa.Although the new round of curriculum reform emphasis on the students’ subject status,stress the cultivation of their ability of independent and creative study competence andautonomous leaning competence, the phenomenon of heavy burden of learning onstudents still exists. Under such circumstance, in order to deepen the new curriculumreform for the better, the paper tries to survey the current situation of homeworkassignment of grade3and grade4in elementary school, especially makes an analysis ofissues in it.Based on the reality of A elementary school, the author adopt literature method,questionnaire survey method and other methods to survey and analyze the homeworkassignment in grade3and grade4. Questionnaire survey objects includes two parts,teachers and students separately. Teachers are mainly from subjects of Chinese, mathand English in grade3and grade4of A elementary school. Students are also from thetwo grades(2classes from each grade as sampling unit), totally200people. Teacherquestionnaire and student questionnaire research surveys the homework assignment andits feedback, the influence of the new curriculum reform on homework assignment, andother related information from different aspects.First, the form of homework assignment are rigid, single, and are mainlymechanical repetition of copying or practice. Second, the whole quantity of homework for students is huge as each teacher has different homework. Third, there is phenomenonof “a cut” about homework; Forth, the way teacher treat students’ homework is simplebut rather rough. Last but not the least, students are negative towards homework. Basedon those information acquired above, the author put some suggestions: firstly, schoolshould provide a good learning platform for teachers and supervise students’ homework;secondly, teachers select the content of homework, and correct it from multiple level;thirdly, students should finish homework seriously in a positive attitude; fourthly,parents should renew their concept of family education, and actively cooperate with theteachers. In all, this paper considers the issue from the perspective of schools, teachers,students, parents respectively and tries to make a contribution to homework assignmentand its effective function in elementary school.
