A Study On Stress Relief Of Family Caregivers Of Rural Children With Disabilities By Intervention Of Support Groups

Nowadays a considerable number of disabled children are facing serious problems.Due to physical and mental reasons,disabled children need other people to look after their daily life.They not only have to bear the economic expenses of the whole family,but also often have to bear the lifelong responsibility for care,and face greater pressure.In addition,due to the influence of geographical location,economic development level,transportation and other factors,the lack of various resources in rural areas will cause some obstacles to the care work of family caregivers,and also make them face heavy care pressure,which requires the attention of all social strata.This study focuses on the stress of family caregivers of disabled children in rural areas.It is necessary to adopt professional social work methods to carry out relevant services to help them improve social support networks and relieve pressure and burden.This study takes the rural family caregivers for disabled children in X town of L City as service object.In order to comprehensively collect the stress status of families and family caregivers of rural disabled children in X town,we used the methods of questionnaire,interview and field observation.Using the collected data,we analyzed the stress of family caregivers in care and the causes of stress,so as to provide basis for the follow-up analysis of the needs of group members.Guided by Social support theory and Rational emotive therapy theory,this study established a support group using the professional method of group work,and carried out six group activities after understanding the needs of group members.Through the development of group activities,the group members were guided to communicate and share with each other,explore difficulties and help each other,and the group members felt the support role of friends and family members in the interaction.Helped the team members learn the methods of emotional catharsis and the way to deal with stress,alleviated physical fatigue,corrected irrational beliefs,improved positive cognition of themselves,increased self-confidence,tapped their own potential,strengthened their own social support network,and the pressure was relieved to a large extent.Through the comparison of the scale before and after and the observation interview,the intervention effect of the group was evaluated,and it was found that the physical,emotional,family and social pressures of the group members were alleviated,and a stable relationship was established between the team members,which better played the role of mutual assistance and support of the group,indicating that the support group was effective in relieving the pressure of the family caregivers of rural disabled children.This study hopes to assist the family caregivers of disabled children in rural areas,reduce their stress burden,and provide some experience and reference for future relevant practical work.
