With the arrival of knowledge economy era, cross and interdisciplinary coursestrengthened increasingly, science and technology study is no longer single-handed or solomission, research institutions in the form of individual or scientific panel obviously can notmeet the requirement of information development, team-based endeavor featurescoordination and high efficiency revealed stronger vitality. As the main force and a vitalnew force in science and technology innovation, college plays an important role inintegration and complementary resources in interdisciplinary study. Ministry of Educationofficially launched and implemented "Program for High Level Innovative Talents” in2004and regards construction of innovative team as a national development strategy in buildingan innovative country. Metallurgical equipment innovative team of Taiyuan University ofScience and Technology (hereinafter referred to as TYUST) supported by RollingEngineering Center of Ministry of Education was studied by means of document analysisand interdisciplinary study, Systems Science, Management and Psychology theory wereapplied to direct the pros and cons of construction of national science and technologyinnovative team in colleges and universities, and permanent measures were proposed in thepaper.Based on the historic features, the preface points out background of construction offoreign innovative team in science and technology, inspired by the success of construction ofabroad science and technology innovative team, the innovative point of this paper was putforward through different research methods. The first chapter was mainly about the basictheory for the construction of science and technology innovation team in colleges anduniversities, first to define science and technology innovation team of colleges anduniversities and the concept for innovation capacity, focused on the differences betweenteam and work group or individuals, and then “how to rationally construct efficienttechnology innovation team” was discussed from the aspects of innovation types, features,operation mechanism aimed at some relative concepts of innovation capacity. The secondchapter, case study on science and technology innovative team of colleges and universitiesand comparative study on team construction, was mainly from the aspect of case study toexplore the reason for foreign colleges and universities of science and technology innovativeteam construction and enlightened on our domestic innovation team construction in colleges. The third chapter, contribution of metallurgical equipment innovative team of TYUST tolocal economic development and solutions to its development bottleneck, started with thedevelopment history, and then contributions of the metallurgical equipment innovative teamand its development bottleneck were elaborated, finally aimed at the solutions to the teamdevelopment draw inferences from simple to profound, from surface to the center to thinkabout the concrete, feasible solutions to the whole science and technology innovative team ofcolleges and universities in China.Interdisciplinary, comparative and case analysis research methods were applied in thepaper to discuss disadvantage in team construction of innovation capacity based on the studyon the success of foreign college and university innovation team from the aspects ofcooperation between team members, the role of team leader, team management, mechanismreform by means of following methods, from the outside to the inside, from the shallower tothe deeper, from the abstract to the concrete to explore the coping strategies in the teambuilding of metallurgical equipment innovative team problems of TYUST and enhance theirability of innovation, make the policy much more targeted and efficient.
