Curriculum resource development is a new highlight in the new round of thebasic courses reform in our country, and in the Curriculum Reform of FundamentalEducation (trial) promulgated by the Chinese Ministry of Education, the concept ofcurriculum resource is put forward and requires that pay attention to the developmentand use of Curriculum resource,“actively develop and rationally use all kinds ofcurriculum resource in and out of school” is spelled out.An innovation point in the geography new curriculum reform of high schools isthat compulsory module is set up as elective module is also put up. The setting up ofelective module increase the specialty, interest and systematization of High schoolgeography teaching, and this reflects the idea of student-oriented, leading the class byinterest, backing to life, building the open type classroom. But the development ofelective type curriculum improves the requirement for the teaching ability of thegeography teachers intangibly, especially for the teachers of the county level highschools which has the rural teaching environment. How to develop and use theelective curriculum resource of geography effectively has become a subject for thearea of geography teaching.Aiming at the lack of the development of geography curriculum resource ofcounty level high schools, this article talks about the developing approaches fitting tothe teaching environment of county level high schools, and makes practice casestudies. In the instruction of the first chapter, the purpose and the significance of theresearch is discussed while the current situation of the geography curriculum reformof county level schools is simply discussed. In the second chapter, some relatedconcepts and the theoretical basis are analyzed. In the third chapter, the classify,characteristics and principles of development are arranged according to the reality ofthe county teaching environment. In the third chapter, this article analyzes theapproaches of geography elective curriculum resource development in eightdimensions based on teaching material, teachers, library, students, practical activities,family education, multi-media internet, local geography, and the principles and strategies are proposed aiming to each development approach. In the fifth chapter, theresearcher chooses four cases of curriculum resource development to show theconcrete process of elective geography curriculum resource development. In the sixthchapter, the researcher speculates on the prospect of the elective geographycurriculum resource development of the county level high schools.
