"Action Oriented Teaching Method (AOTM)" takes the student as the main body and paysattention to the teaching process of formation. Originated in Germany, it has also made greatcontribution to the development of Vocational Education there. Since the1990’s,China’s vocational education has entered the era of fast development. To cope withthe economic development and social needs of21stcentury, vocational education needs to bereformed, so that the new teaching goals can be proposed and the action ability can be attainedand improved. At present, the reform of the professional courses is going like a raging fire.AOTM has also gradually integrated into this trend. As one of the traditional basic culturalcourses, mathematics is difficult to change. The purpose of this paper is to study howto apply AOTM in the vocational mathematics teaching, so as to develop the professionalmathematics to better serve the vocational education, improve the comprehensive ability ofstudents, to provide some reference for advancing mathematics reform in Vocational education.This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter is the introduction. With the backdrop of the China’s currenteconomic development and some related policies, the author introduces the research purposes,significance and methods after analyzing the domestic and foreign research situation.The second chapter is about the status and role of AOTM in mathematics teaching invocational education. The readers can find definition of AOTM and some the relatedteaching methods and their significance promoted byAOTM.The third chapter is main body of the analysis. It presents the procedure of questionnaire,the collection of the data and the analysis of survey results to show the pros and cons ofmathematics in secondary vocational education and reveals reform direction.The fourth chapter is the implementation cases of AOTM. The author innovates theteaching by project-design and situation-simulation, which aim at cultivating the students’actionability.The fifth chapter is the summary and reflection of research. It summarize the findings andreflects where is needed to improve. The authors hopes to implement and improve theAOTM through the empirical research model of “thinking--practice–reflection”.
