The Ethical Dilemmas And Decision Making In Social Work Practice

Social work is a helping profession, it takes altruism as the core concept, to achieve social fairness and justice as its mission, so the social work professional value support, help social workers must establish the concept of activity based on professional values, the helping process is a process of social work ethics practice.Social workers become practitioners of social work ethics, on the basis of social work ethics is to help people, its ethical practice will also affected by human and environmental factors, which includes both the human factors,including social factors. In this paper,"ethical dilemma and decisions " of social workers encounter in practice as the research subject, focus on the process of social workers encounter ethical dilemmas in the social work practice, summarize the types of ethical dilemma, moral choice of different ethical dilemma of social workers.The aim is to explore the ethical choice in different ethical dilemma of social workers to make ethical choices, through analysis of some choice principle and standards of social workers gradually formed in the face of ethical dilemmas,which relates to the development of social work ethics and social work development prospects.The author studies the use of interviews, depth interview of Lanzhou city social work agencies of social workers, compared with13cases collected representative.Based on the analysis of case studies, can be summed up ethical dilemma of social workers encounter with the following five types:One is the case of different interest demands and ultimately benefit conflict between (welfare);Two is the conflict between the security requirements and case others interests; the three is the conflict between the services social workers theme chanism of main interests and social vulnerable groups; four is the conflict between the social worker client interests demand respect and social workers obey mechanism; five is the conflict between the client self-determination principle and social workers "paternalism".The social worker ethical choice of ethical dilemmas needs two aspects of social workers on their own understanding of the role and the ethical dilemmas of types, first is the social workers on their own understanding in the role of1dilemma, and then according to the type of ethical dilemma of his role in the ethical dilemma of cognition, and finally ethical choice.Through the research of ethics of organization of social workers in the ethical dilemmas of the analysis, the author summarizes the social workers take ethics measures formed certain principles:1.In the process of ethical choice, first consider the basic survival needs of themain, followed by the ability to enhance the need, finally is the need to respect.2.In case one needs to consider the long-term interests, to the Lord, not only pay attention to short-term interests.3.When interest conflicts, the interests and social workers’ interests, other interest groups, give priority to client’s interests.4. When the principle of harm to others or social security, to give priority to others or the society security.5.Respect the principles of self-determination, rather than professional authority.
