"Advance organizer" is a concept put forward by Ausubel. Its classic concept is defined as:"advance organizer" is a good introductory material before learning materials presented, which generalization and tolerance level is higher than the new learning. With the deepening of the research, the connotation of the concept of "advance organizer" to get rich; The object of study to be expanded, including preschool education, basic education and higher education; Application scope to be expanded, including the teaching design, teaching implementation, teaching assessment, textbook writing, and many other fields. With comprehensive and regional geography, in the teaching process by using the theory of advance organizer has a larger space. This paper from two aspects of theory and practice to "advance organizer" theory application in geography teaching, mainly includes five parts.The first part is introduction to the theory of "advance organizer". This part mainly explains the concept of "advance organizer", conditions of "advance organizer", function of "advance organizer" and its theoretical basis, providing the oretical guidance for further research.The second part of "advance organizer" under the condition of application in geography teaching, this part puts forward in geography teaching by using the theory of advance organizer should consider when students condition and knowledge.The third part is " the design and application program of the advance organizer in the geography teaching ".This part from two dimensions of design and application were analyzed. In the design procedures, first of all to analyze new knowledge,and then choose the appropriate type. Finally choose the appropriate form. On the application link will first present advance organizer, and then present the new material to learn. In the end, through comprehensive well versed in the knowledge structure is strengthened.The fourth part is "an empirical analysis of the advance organizer application in geography teaching".This part demonstrates the theory of "advance organizer" through the teaching experiment of the natural geography teaching in high school effectiveness,and provides direction for the use of advance organizer of geography teachers. Finally, the author summarizes the basic conclusion of this study, the shortcomings and future research direction.
