As the important educator of students’political education, college counselors are the main core strength of students’ideological and political education work. The relationship between them is very closely. The success of counselor’s career management is directly related to the stability of counselors and college, the all-round development of students and even the harmony of the society. With the rapid development of economy and society, not only new methods of the talent assessment but higher demands of counselors’work have been proposed. In order to give a more depth and effective guidance for students, counselors should be equipped with basic professional skills and rich experience. Therefore, the construction of professional counselor team is extremely urgent. To make the organic unity of counselors’personal goals and universities’strategic targets, it is necessary to make effective counselors’ career which will arouse enthusiasm and creativity to a certain extent.Under the new environment, talent assessment puts forward new challenges for the counselors. To promote all-round development of college students, colleges must develop a professional and creative counselor team. On the basis of the characteristics factor theory, Holland vocational type theory and career anchor theory, combining with the significance of college counselors’career planning, we investigate and analyze the basic situations and their satisfactions in college counselors’career managements in H college in Wuhan, and then propose problems as following:(1) unclear career development direction;(2) lack of career planning text;(3) low quality of career planning. What’s more, we analyze the causes of these problems from the viewpoint of both counselors and colleges. Finally, we determine counselors’ characteristics, career types and anchors according to the talent assessment, and then we propose to take effective measures to ensure the implementation and improvement of counselors’career planning:(1) school leaders should pay high attention to college counselor’s career planning;(2) functional departments should actively assist the counselors in career planning;(3) the college counselors should actively involve in making personal career planning;(4) colleges should perfect the safeguard mechanism of the counselor’s career planning. And I hope this paper can provide theoretical supports and operational recommendations for H college counselors to promote the sound development of its workforce.
