In2001the Ministry of Education promulgated the "Basic Education Curriculum Reform (Trial)"to encourage schools to develop school-based curriculum with its own characteristics. However, for primary and secondary schools in rural areas, how to carry out effective development and implementation of school-based curriculum is still under exploration. Relied on the unique stone cultural resources, Changyu High School in Wenling City has developed its school-based curriculum "Wenling Stone Culture" for local students to study. This paper describes comprehensive development ideas development process and teaching practice of the curriculum. This paper consists of six parts. Part1outlines significance and context of the current domestic research on curriculum development. Part2outlines values and develop objectives of the curriculum "Wenling Stone Culture". Part3outlines the content of school-based curriculum "Wenling stone culture". Teaching material was compiled and a three-dimensional teaching resource library was established. The main content of "Wenling Stone Culture"course consists of three aspects that is Wenling review, cultural landscape about stone, literature and art about Stone. Teaching material included reading materials exhibitions, events design, knowledge links; three-dimensional construction of the teaching material were developed which included the development of supplementary materials, electronic courseware, and development of student website. Part4describes the basic principles and methods used in the teaching process, including the instructional designs on Wenling review, cultural landscape about Wenling Stone, stone culture and art. Part5describes evaluation of curriculum implementation and curriculum development. Part6describes the harvest and lack of the rural junior high school-based curriculum development process, and the future direction of development and implementation of school-based curriculum.
