Thinking is one of humanity’s traits, in which critical thinking is an advanced form of the human mind, it can help people make wise decision. While China’s traditional educational always emphasis on knowledge, the cultivation of critical thinking is quite lacking. Critical thinking skills is an important part of the personality, it is also an important condition for the selection of high-quality talent in the fierce social competition. The ultimate goal of education is for students to grow, so the cultivation of critical thinking, especially to develop critical thinking skills of students for the future development is profoundly meaningful.The importance of developing critical thinking skills is self-evident, but the current situation of China’s education is still ambiguity, most of teachers have vague recognition, low ability and lack of motive to the cultivation of critical thinking. History has its own particularity discipline, which makes the best platform to foster critical thinking. I found that there are still many problems to develop critical thinking in history classroom via my related investigation in several high schools, for example, students generally blindly follow others or the authoritative views from the textbook, lack of confidence to propose questions, the lack of historical truth curiosity and so on. For problems exposed literature and relevant information combined with inspection, the thesis divided into two phases of the cultivation of critical thinking, which are the preparation and the classroom teaching. The phase of preparation includes the learning situation analysis combined with the real cases of teaching and analyzing the reference value of that result in how to cultivate critical thinking ability, In addition to these contents, this phase still includes the importance of setting up the harmony classroom for the cultivation of critical thinking. The second phase-the classroom teaching-includes the most important tool to develop critical thinking skills, it is the historical materials. This part refers to how to choose the historical materials and providing several suggestions for teachers on how to inspire students and guide them to think. The last part is mentioned on how to check the results of critical thinking. Through encouraging students to speak out can make us check the achievement of critical thinking.
