All the time, classroom teaching is the main front of ideological and political teaching in high school. Therefore, the method and result of classroom teaching have a profound effect on students’ physical, mental and even lifelong development. With the further implementation of the reform of new curriculum, the exploration of learning philosophy enjoys popular support no matter on the textbook compilation or on the broad teachers’teaching theory and practice. One of the most widespread learning philosophy is inquiry learning, which is applied for ideological and political classes in high school. It plays the role of moral education, promotes students’ability in an all-rounded way, and reflects the demand for teaching reform in senior politics classes. However, there are many problems in senior politics classes so far, such as the weak base of inquiry learning theory, the comprehensive deviation of politics teacher for inquiry learning and the lack of autonomous inquiry ability. By the method of literature documentation, analysis and interview, this thesis first figures out the status quo of the practice of the inquiry learning method, then analyzes the problem of applying the inquiry learning in senior politics classes and the principal factors that affect the effective application of the inquiry learning in senior politics classes, and at last proposes some strategies that can apply the inquiry learning method effectively in senior politics classes.This thesis includes three parts. The first part states the meaning and characteristics of inquiry learning, reviews the start and development of inquiry learning and advocates that inquiry learning is the intrinsic requirement of creative teaching method in senior politics classes. The second part relates theory to practice and mainly analyzes the performance and reasons for the problems of inquiry leaning in senior politics classes, laying a foundation of the solutions for the problems. The third part focuses on the application of inquiry learning in senior politics classes. Reflections and suggestions were given to the practice of inquiry learning in senior politics classes on the problems that exist.The practical significance of this thesis is to guide teachers and students to utilize the inquiry learning method in politics classes, to improve students’critical thinking skills, learning ability and developmental ability, to cultivate students’creative ability, self-study ability, problem-solving ability and to harmonize the relationship between teachers and students. It worths intensive study to investigate how to apply inquiry learning, this new learning method, to senior politics classes effectively and how to improve students’ ability self-exploration and independent thinking ability.
