The new curriculum reform should be student-centered, changing teaching methods, arousing the students’interest in learning, cultivating students’ability of independence, cooperation and probing. In this era, under the big background of21st learning century and reform of the new curriculum and the school real situations of the author to practice raise this new mode of teaching-Teaching Case. Teaching Case focuses on the guidance of learning method and highlight students’independence, cooperation and probing. Its use emphasizes the principal position of students, achieving a unity of teaching and learning, improving the teacher-student relationship, and improves the quality of teaching.Based on the constructivism learning theory and the English new curriculum standards as the theoretical basis for the thesis, The paper is divided into six chapters focusing on "The Design and Application of Teaching Case". The first chapter is introduction. It includes the background; the research status at home and broad and the significance of the study. The second chapter is a profile overview of Teaching Case. It introduces the concept, features and theoretical basis. The third part is the design and application of Teaching Case. In this part, the writer present the basic link of Teaching Case briefly, detailed the principles of Teaching Case to be followed and expound the use of Teaching Case before class, in class, and after class. The fourth chapter is the experimental operation. The author makes an experimental research to Teaching Case design and application according to the methods of exam test, questionnaire survey and the teacher interview. The study found that the Teaching Case is popular with the teachers and students; it also has made gratifying achievements. The fifth chapter makes a detail introduction to the role and effect of the Teaching Case. It points out that Teaching Case can not only improve the students’ autonomous learning ability, interest, academic achievement, cultivating students’ study habits, change the learning method, but also can enhance the professional quality of teachers, improve the teacher-student relationship, enables greater optimization of classroom structure and improve classroom efficiency. The sixth part is conclusion. In this part, the writer summary the advantage of Teaching Case, but at the same time, points out the problems which are existing in the Teaching Case, then put forward the improvement measures to these problems., and at last, the writer points out the limitations of this study, it remains to be fined and improved.
