As an important city of Beijing-tianjin-hebei Economic Zone, Chengde needs moreand more vocational talents during the course of economic growth. Vocational educationin this city develops rapidly in recently years. But there are still some questions weshould notice in this field. On the basis of careful study upon vocational education inwestern countries, we believe that the development of vocational education must beguided by market demand. The curriculum should be well planned to better help thestudents develop vocational skills. At the same time, exchange and cooperation with highvocational education will expand space for middle vocational education.Based on study of some typical school running methods in the west, the author triesto show clearly the opportunities and challenges, the policy orientation for developingvocational education. By analyzing what is going on with vocational education inChengde, the problems and suggestions are pointed out. For Chengde’s shortage oftourism service and preschool education personnel, the passage comes up with twoschool-running model and discusses them.
