To deepen teacher’s understanding of the time concept, and draw more attention to the teaching of time concept, this study summarized the contents of time concept in primary school mathematics, and analyzed the relations between them to improve the continuity of knowledge. Besides, several problems in teaching and learning are also summarized and analyzed, to help teachers better grasping the essence of the time concept. It is found that the time concept in primary school includes the following five parts:time and interval, time sequence and period, clock and calendar, time units, as well as time perception and estimation. Based on the study of the mentioned problems, conclusions and proposals are proposed:contents of time concept in textbooks should extend to the whole primary school stage; contents about time sequence and period should be added; practical problems of time concept should be taught in the second stage; the expression of time units should be changed gradually from life terms to mathematical terms; more emphasis should be put on the relation between different parts of time concept; students’ ability of time estimation should be further developed; the time chart can be used to better understand practical problems about time concept.
