The Research On The Pilot College’s Reform

By the end of2011, through a rigorous demonstration and evaluation, the Ministry of Education identified17pilot colleges, as a special teaching reform experimental zone of education that through comprehensive reform to explore new ways of development of higher education.Pilot college reform has gone through three stages:the embryonic stage launching stage and the implementation stage. On the reform of the content and methods pilot college present the characteristics that small class teaching, tutorial system of education, international training, appointment management, college-style building features, nd achieved certain results. However, problems still exist,such as more than inadequate management services, the mode of financing is difficult to put on the reform agenda, mentoring effect needs to be strengthened, ignored students’ humanistic quality training and other issues. The main cause of these problems is adhere to the traditional model of reform, college autonomy may not be implemented, tutor management mechanisms are inadequate, the deficiencies of college’s cultural construction.Faced with these problems, we can find a useful reference from the foreign Oxbridge college system’s development features. College syetem is the distinguishing feature of University of Oxford and Cambridge.It’s characterized by independent recruitment, Independent appointment of teachers, College autonomy, Tutorial system, Self-financing, Academic freedom, and interdisciplinary learning. The Pilot College can learn the experience from the School Syetem of Oxbridge:Puting into practice of independent recruitment,and strict admissions selection process; Deepen the reform of teacher appointment, so as to improve the quality of teachers; Strengthen the constraction of college’s culture to enhance college education; Implementing tutorial system in undergraduate for the round development of students; Expanding the sources of funding,so college can free from University; To improve the college governance structure,and put Professor scholarship into practice.And to further promote the effective reform of college, we need the support of national and school and college levels.
