Faculties are the key factor in improving the quality of higher education. They are the prerequisite of the existence and development of a university. Ensuring faculties’quality and promoting faculties’development have become the widespread concern in higher education among countries around the world. Currently, faculty training program is an important channel to promote faculties’ development. Governments and universities have put a lot of manpower and material and financial resources on faculty training programs, and have taken a variety of methods to evaluate the impact of the programs. Based on the literature research, the paper systematically reviews the existing evaluation for faculty training programs (mainly teaching development programs). Firstly, the paper introduces the characteristics of faculty teaching development program. Then, the two main evaluation dimensions of faculty training program (teachers and students) are discussed in detail. After that, it analyses the common evaluation methods of faculty training program. Finally, the paper proposes the suggestions for improvement to our country’s faculty training program evaluation.The current faculty training program evaluation focuses more on teachers than on students, characterized by the combination of qualitative evaluation and quantitative evaluation. Through systematically summary on faculty training program evaluation at home and abroad, it points out that our country’s faculty training program evaluation could be improved in the following four aspects:the diversification of evaluation methods, the enhancement of the track evaluation, the rational selection of evaluation time and the feedback of evaluation results.
