Research On The Relationship Between The Transfer Of Rural Labor And Urbanization In Chongqing

Report at18th Party congress regards urbanization as a universal objective ofbuilding a well-off society. Now urbanization faces an important opportunity, which isan inevitable process for China to achieve modernization. In recent years, urbanizationprocess develops at a high speed, but, along with the high-speed development, it is alsofaced with various crises, such as how to make proper arrangements for the transferredrural labor force. The relationship between urbanization and rural labor transferring ismutual promotion. Lag or excessive of urbanization constrains the rural labortransferring. Chongqing is the only municipality which has a vast geographical area andlarge population in the region of western China. If we are able to deal well with therelationship between urbanization and rural labor transferring, we can attract vast rurallabor force, thus driving the optimization of industrial structure in Chongqing, as aresult enhancing people’s living standard and achieving the ambitious goal of universalwell-off society. Firstly, this paper analyzed the related papers at home and abroadthrough literature research method, found part of the reasons of rural labor transfer(such as income inequality, job opportunities, etc.) and the ways to achieve theharmonious development between rural labor transfer and urbanization. Then accordingto some literature conclusions, qualitatively analyzed the coordinated developmentpattern between rural labor transfer and urbanization, refined the push-pull interactionmechanism of China’s urbanization process and rural labor transfer, explored the impactof urbanization on the transfer of rural labor. Finally, analyzed the situation and statusof Chongqing’s urbanization process and rural labor transfer relatively, built an analysismodel of the level of urbanization and the scale of rural labor transfer, using this modelanalyzed both Jiangsu Province and Chongqing, verified some of the conclusions madein the former literature analysis and qualitative analysis, summed up the internal andexternal factors which had an impact on their coordinated development.Through the above analysis, we can see the scale of Chongqing rural labor transferincreases with the increase of the level of urbanization, but the rate of increasingcontinues to slow down. Chongqing’s urban layout, industrial structure, householdregistration policy needs to be improved. We should increase the investment in ruralareas to reduce the surplus agricultural labor, promote urban and rural coordinateddevelopment, carry out rational urban planning and industrial layout, promote urbanization, optimize industrial structure, expand employment and improve thesecurity system, attracting farmers to be transferred into citizen, in the end to achievethe coordinated development of urbanization and rural labor force transfer inChongqing.
