A Comparative Study Of Jiangsu And Zhejiang Provinces Urban And Rural Development

Since The16th National Congress of the CPC put forward the strategy ofcoordination of urban and rural development，the government at all levels have takenvarious measures to promote urban and rural development. Among them，the roadof urban and rural development in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces located in theYangtze River Delta took the leading position in the whole country. However，literatures which compare the urban and rural roads of two province are rare and theexisting literature have obvious defects such as research object is extremely specific，no quantitative analysis and econometric model to support and research conclusionmaybe unilateral and so on. In this context，to make better use the experience ofJiangsu and Zhejiang provinces Urban—Rural development，the paper will take acomprehensive comparison analysis on Jiangsu and Zhejiang province’sUrban—Rural development.Based on the regional economics，development economics，political economics，econometrics and regional sustainable development theory，we take a comprehensivecomparison analysis on Jiangsu and Zhejiang province’s Urban—Rural development.On one hand，we use the classical theory in economics to take qualitative analysis onthe Urban—Rural development road for the different provinces. On the other hand，with the aid of the software like Super Decisions and SPSS，we take a quantitativeanalysis to compare the road of Jiangsu and Zhejiang province’s Urban—Ruraldevelopment.The main research contents include： We make a literature review of theUrban—rural development from all aspects including origin，connotation，reason，barriers and measures，then we also made a literature review about the two provincesroad of Urban—Rural development；We build a Urban—Rural development levelevaluation system contains four subsystem including economic，social，environmentaland space subsystem to estimate and compare the two provinces’ Urban—Rural development level from2000to2011；Using the factor analysis model to research thevarious factors that influence the two provinces’ Urban—Rural development road andput forward policy Suggestions.Through the study in this paper we may get such conclusions：(1)we take Jiangsuprovince and Zhejiang province as the object of the comparative study，we found thatthe Urban—Rural development road of areas are consistent，but different provinceswill have significant differences;(2) the Urban—Rural development level of Jiangsuand Zhejiang province take the leading position among all the provinces and theirlevel are closely；(3) The Urban—Rural development road of Jiangsu and Zhejiangprovince are obvious different. The road of Jiangsu is the type of ‘dominated by thegovernment and the city leads rural’ and the road of Zhejiang is the type of‘dominated by the market and rural surround city’.By constructing Urban—Rural development level evaluation system，we estimatedthe two provinces’ Urban—Rural development level from2000to2011and comparedthe Urban—Rural development road of the two provinces by qualitative analysis andquantitative analysis. We obtained the conclusion that the Urban—rural developmentroad of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces are not the same. Further more，we got theUrban—Rural development road type of the each province. By doing this，we can getthe regular pattern of the Urban—Rural development and provide reference andSuggestions for the whole nation the other provinces.
