Empirical Analysis Of Problems Of Increasing Farmers’ Income In Awat County

This paper use cotton farmers livelihoods survey Awat County in Xinjiang of80subjects about the income of peasants and herdsmen in2010and take135of the360questionnaires, from the overall income of the farmer household, constitute of farmerhousehold total income and other relevant circumstances, to analysis. It also reveal the farmeroverall income situation, dissect the main factors of affecting the Awat County farmerincome, use principal component regression to establish a statistical model and derivecomprehensive ranking of affecting increase farmers’ income. Among the10factors ofaffecting farmers’ income, there are7factors to promote the role of farmers’ income and thecontribution rate of the order are operating income families, the average arable land offarmers, farm families living expenditure in food and clothing, Awat household operationexpenses in the prices of agricultural production, farmers per household policy subsidyincome, wage income in rural non-farm activities income and the average years of education.To some extent, these factors can induce the income of the farmers increases. Per mu ofcotton, cotton prices and the number of non-farm activities are summarized non-determiningfactors, which are eighth, ninth and sixth.From the results of the study, the main problems which are urgent to solve in the periodof income of farmers increases are analysed and obtained, which include:(1) The county’smain sources of income of farmers and herdsmen are family operating income, and theproportion of wage income share is little, and outlook of a steady income of farmers is notoptimistic;(2) The development of rural secondary and tertiary industries is seriously laggingbehind, and the growth in the non-agricultural income of farmers is limited, even more,large-scale agriculture and industrialization and mechanization is low and large numbers ofworkers cann’t be freed. Therefore, how to increase the income of peasants and herdsmen inAwat County, and narrow the gap with the national income of the farmers, especially the gapalong the southeast coast of the province, which become the focus and difficulty of ruraldevelopment in the new period.Finally, according to the results of qualitative and quantitative analysis and combiningthe real developing situation of investigating farmer in Awat County, it puts forward practicalpolicy recommendations.
