Research On Zhaojiabao Residentais’ Tourism Perception And Attitude Towords Tourism

Castle is one of the most important tourist resources, which characterized Chinese traditional charm. Due to the frangibility of Castle, the studying of sustainable development of this kind of tourist destination is very important. While the development of tourism is dependent of the support of local government and community residents. For the purpose of this, this paper will analyze one of the important determinants of sustainable development of tourist destination---the perceptions and attitudes of the local residents’on the tourism development and propose some suggestions for the sustainable development.Based on questionnaire survey and interview, the paper analyzes the local community residents’ perception of the impact of tourist development on economy, environment and society and attitude toward tourist development. The results show that most residents have positive perception toward the impact of tourist development. And most of them hold a supportive attitudes toward the development of tourism. The selection of "strongly agree" and "agree" accounted for the biggest proportion in the survey. In addition, analysis shows that people with different demographic characteristics have different perception of tourism. Studies have found that gender, age and occupation have no significant difference on perception and attitude to the tourist development, while educational level and occupation have significant difference on perception to the tourist development.The reason why the local community residents for and against Zhaojiabao’s tourism development is that:firstly, the government and local residents have witnessed the economic benefits from tourism development so that they shown a strong preference for the sustainable development of tourism. Secondly, The tourism development of Zhaojiabao is still in its primary stage. Some negative influence is not distinct or the community residents have not been aware of these negative effects. So they show more positive and supportive attitude to tourism industry.Based on the conclusions from above, the paper give some suggestions to the Zhangpu government and related department on how to improving the positive perception and supportive attitude of the local residents’toward sustainable tourism development. hence help keep Zhaojiabao tourism in a healthy and sustainable development.
