Academic concerns, rather than social discussion, have been imposed to those misconduct in operation amongst tour guides, aiming at finding out an improvement on it. There are some hidden reasons leading to this misconduct, which are to be explored, although explanation have already exists that it is the over pursuit of benefit from tour guide that causes a harm over the travelers’. The current paper is seeking an explanation from the psychological side, by developing an investigation on tour guide’s career recognition and psychological need, in order to therefore explore some suggestions reflecting the related reasons. The author also hopes that the contribution of this paper would attract some level of official attention.The current research is based on the theory from psychology and behaviouristics. It tries to analyze how tour guides recognize their job as a career via behaviouristics, whilst their psychological need through related theory. This research is also supported by some theories from human resource management so that the outcome could be more persuasive.The indication of the investigation suggests that the sense of security, stability and being respected comprises the majority of tour guide’s psychological need, based on which, some suggestions are introduced to ease the problems, namely setting up a communication platform amongst tour guides, established rules to for better tour guide operational regulation, an improved human resource management and protection covering tour guides’ legal rights. It is sincerely expected such suggestions would arise related management team’s attention thus the significance of this research is also seen.
