Thirty years of development has been passed since the express delivery industrywas brought into China at the beginning of Reform and Opening up. Now, it is thefastest growing industry among all emerging industries in China. Along with thegrowth of the national economy, the upgrade of the consumption structure, the riseof emerging service industry such as the online shopping, the private expressindustry will surely have more opportunities. At the same time, we need to see thatdue to a long time of insufficient attention paid on competence building, mostprivate express enterprises’ competitiveness is weak. Helping the private expressenterprises enhance their competitive strength is the only way they can grasp theopportunities effectively and meet the challenges successfully,also this topic isbecoming hot and drawing more attention of the society.Firstly the article reviews the achievements on enterprise competitiveness,competitiveness evaluation and Chinese private express enterprises’ competitiveness,analyses the external environment of private express enterprises from twodimensions of macro and micro, and summarizes the opportunities and challengesthat companies are facing. Then a set of express companies’ competitive powerevaluation index system is built up on the foundations of establishing principals andexisting research. With the study on some current main competitiveness researchmethods, the improved radar map method is ultimately determined to be introducedinto express enterprises’ competitiveness evaluation research of this thesis. Then theevaluation index system and method of the improved radar map are combined intothe evaluation model. The article collects the index data of Shun Feng, Shen Tong,EMS to start empirical analysis, and concludes the core indexes for all expressenterprises to enhance their competitive power and the current focus for privateexpress companies. Finally, this article put forward countermeasures and suggestionsfrom two aspects of external support and internal promotion to improve competitiveness of the private express enterprises.
