Via the investigation and analysis of the international joint venture, professor Karinof Canada concludes that the percentage of failure would reach to30%or40%in all ofthe joint venture companies, and the main reason of more than70%company’s failure isthe problem of enterprise’s corporate culture. Therefore, the study of the culture of thejoint venture, its cross-cultural conflict, the phenomenon and essence of cross-culturalmanagement has become an effective way to solve the problem of failure andcountermeasures.The different of cultural background in the organization will lead to differentvalues, and leading to different thinking ways and behavior habits. If the managers don’tseek ways to solve the conflicts and contradictions of cross-cultural differences, thecompany will encounter immeasurable negative impact. In reality, the instances ofbusiness failures and divestment dissolution caused by the cross-cultural conflict can beseen everywhere.By the example of Chengdu Kobelco, the paper proposes some countermeasuresand suggestions to solve the problem of the cross-cultural management by comparingthe cultural differences between China and Japan, and analyzing the contradictions andconflicts in the cooperation between China and Japan.The paper follows the traditional study pattern:(1) the analysis of the definition ofculture and conflict;(2) the phenomenon and cause of cross cultural conflict;(3)solutions. This paper also tries to add the essence of the Sino-Japanese cooperation incross-cultural conflict by the views of conflict on the basis of previous studies.By the example of Chengdu Kobelco, this paper clearly understands the essence ofcross-cultural cooperation and the importance of cross-cultural management of the jointventure.
