In recent years, emotional intelligence (EI) has got more and more attention. At first,researchers concentrated on its concept. With deeper research into EI, researchers start to studyits influence on people’s success. Lately, researches focus on its function in workplaceperformance. Now the concept of EI has been expanded to team. Considering one team as awhole, researchers think every team has its own EI standard. Now the discussions of team EI arefocusing on its concept and its influence on teams’ performance.Reviewing the studies on team emotional intelligence that already exist, the concept of teamemotional intelligence has not been unified. In addition, the constitution of team emotionalintelligence is not distinct too. There are rarely empirical researches on this subject. In this study,300research and development team members’ information and data is collected and used to findout the influence mechanism how team emotional intelligence impacted on team performance. Atthe fifth section of this essay will put forward some viable measures to improve R&D team’sperformance.This study first summarizes the elements of emotional intelligence by reading many relatedliteratures. These factors include personal emotional intelligence of team members, teamconflicts management, team communication atmosphere and team goal’s incentive intensity. Theempirical study shows that all the four factors have a positive influence on team’s performance.Besides, the factor gender and age don’t have a significant influence on team members’ feelings;the factors education background and service year have a significant impact on team members’feelings.In the last part of this essay, it will bring up the management strategies on improving theresearch and development team’s performance according to the data analysis results.
