Agriculture is the foundation of national economy. Modernization is only the waywhich must take the progress of human society. Agricultural modernization is animportant part of modernization and a important strategic goal of socialistmodernization construction in china. Without the modernization of agriculture is nomodernization of the national economy. Agricultural modernization is the process thatthe backward traditional agriculture transformed into the world’s advanced level. The2007No.1document of central government clearly put forward: the primary task ofbuilding socialist new countryside is to develop modern agriculture. Chongqing shouldtake the lead in realizing well-off society in Chongqing in2012Fourth Party Congressmeeting. To realize agricultural modernization, the meeting clearly put forward someopinions of the development of agricultural modernization in Chongqing. So, it isnecessary to research agricultural modernization.In this paper, according to the2008-2012’s "Chinese Rural Statistical Yearbook"and "Chongqing Statistical Yearbook", analyze the latest statistics and comprehensivelyevaluate quantitative development of agricultural modernization in Chongqing. This notonly is for development of scientific orientation and strategic decision making, but alsohas important practical significance for promoting the development of agriculturalmodernization.Firstly, through the dynamic study abroad in modern agriculture was summarizedand analyzed, the clear connotation of agricultural modernization and the characteristicsare the theoretical foundation. Then with a lot of data to analyze the status of theicon based system of agricultural development in Chongqing and according to theprinciples of objective criteria and index system of agricultural modernization, thearticle uses the analytic method and system analysis method to construct indicators. Theevaluation index system of Chongqing agricultural modernization level is divided intothe material and equipment level、agricultural comprehensive production ability、therural rich conditions、rural resources and environment conditions in four categories,namely,19groups of indicators. Next, standardized processing of raw data of variousgroups of indicators of Chongqing agricultural modernization of proportion method, thearticle uses the evaluation index system and model on the overall level of Chongqingagriculture modernization and the main indexes to evaluate and analyze. Fromthe evaluation results: the initial phase of implementation of Chongqing agricultural modernization is the modernization of agriculture, which is consistent with the actualsituation. That reflects the actual situation evaluation index system set up better inChongqing, and has a certain practicality.Finally, according to the results of theanalysis, the article puts forward the development direction of Chongqing agricultureand the corresponding suggestions, and hopes to provide scientific basis for speeding upthe agricultural modernization in Chongqing.
