Land scarcity determines that land utilization must be efficient and economical, our country must take the road of intensive use of urban construction land, because of rapid urbanization, large-scale expansion and China’s national conditions of many people and little land. To ease the contradiction between the restrictive supply of land and urban land expansion, how to improve the intensive use level of urban land becomes the key issue to achieve sustainable urban development.This paper reviews the related research at home and abroad firstly, and offers an overview of the connotation and related theory of land intensive use based on this. After summarizing the historical changes of land system, the paper analyzes the current situation of urban land use. Finally, the targeted suggestions to improve the status of land intensive use are putting forward based on the research of the key factors affecting the land intensive use level.This paper is divided into six chapters, each chapter reads as follows:Chapter Ⅰ, Introduction, describes the background, significance, research thoughts and innovations,and reviews the related research at home and abroad.Chapter Ⅱ, theoretical foundations, describes the understanding of theconnotation of urban land intensive utilizationafter summarizing the views in existing research. Then thischapter describes the relationships between urban land intensive use and urban scale based on three classical theories.Chapter Ⅲ, history and current situation of China’s urban construction land use. It introduces the reform history of China’s urban land system, and analyzes the situation of urban land use currently.Chapter Ⅳ, analysis of factors influencing the intensive utilization of urban construction land. This chapter analyzes the key influencing factors through empirical research based on the division of urban land utilization level.Chapter Ⅴ, suggestions to improve urban construction land intensive use. Based on the conclusions in chapter III and chapter IV, this chapter puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions from the points of land market construction, infrastructure investment, land use structure and transportation system planning. Chapter Ⅵ, conclusions and analysis.This chapter collates the study thoughts and summarizes the conclusions. At last, it analyzes the limitations that exists in the present study, and then proposes directions for the future research.
