Along with the implement of the reform and opening-up policy, China’s economy getsgreat development, and the real estate enterprises also get rapid evolution. There are more andmore construction project and the quantity of construction project manager increased. Withthe development of economy, market competition is increasingly fierce, and the competitionof construction enterprises is even more fierce. As the virtual head of the construction projectand the undertaker of the project management, the construction project manager’s job isbecoming more important. In order to adapt to the fierce competition environment and helpconstruction enterprises get better development, we should improve construction projectmanager’s working ability and business level to create more profits for enterprises.To improve construction project manager’s working ability and business level and bringgreater benefits for construction enterprises, we should strengthen the performancemanagement of project managers, which can not only direct and supervise them to completethe project plan punctually, but also motivate them to strengthen the project controls, reducecost and create more benefit for the enterprise. In addition, it can also help to cultivate,select, retain and attract outstanding talent to provide a steady stream of talents for thedevelopment of enterprises and improve the project management ability of constructionenterprise. In conclusion, we should study the performance management of constructionproject managers deeply to achieve the goal of improving construction project manager’sworking ability and business level, improving production capacity and creating more profits.Based on the relevant theory of project management and performance management andaccording to domestic and foreign research for construction project managers’ performancemanagement, this paper analyzes the current situation of the project managers’ performancemanagement within the scope of construction enterprises, points out the existing problemsand explores the necessity and importance of making further research for the project managers’performance management, and proposed corresponding improvement suggestions. Throughthe analysis of the construction project managers’ job and according to the constructionproject manager’s responsibility and capacity requirements, this paper identifies the focus ofconstruction project managers’ performance evaluation, constructs the system of performance management and sets the performance goals, performance plan, performance evaluationsubject and performance coaching communication. Then this paper builds the performanceevaluation system, gives the methods and steps for the feedback, appeal and conduction ofperformance results, and proposes the performance improvement plans and performanceresults application. Finally, this paper puts the construction project managers’ performancemanagement into use, test its effectiveness and lay the foundation of it to guide themanagement and working practice of construction project managers’ performance evaluation.
