With the development of society and economy, population structure in differentcountries changes gradually,aging problem has become an important task for manycountries in the world. China is the one of the countries in the world that have thelargest population and fastest increasing pace. Retired elder people spend most of thetime, especially in spring, summer and autumn, in the park and green space near theirhome. How to build a park and greenbelt that is convenient for elder people’ sactivities,so that they could live happily, has become a social problem urgent to besolved.on the basis of clear understanding of research background, research goal and itssignificance, this paper start from analyzing elder people’s characteristics, definingelements like elder people, park and greenbelt, investigating typical park and greenspace in Xuzhou, drawing a design strategy on the basis of data analysis, anddemonstrating it by Yoshiya Pavilion Park reconstruction in Xuzhou. The research isdeveloped in five parts:first, from the perspectives of psychology, physiology and social demand thispaper analyzes the relationship between elder people’ s characteristics and theirdemands, summarizing elder people’s activity features in park and greenbelt; on thisbasis, added with surveys like questionnaires, interviews, on the spot investigation inselected park and greenbelt, this paper analyzing elder people’s utilization of parkand greenbelt; second, through the analysis of park and greenbelt’s service radius,size and space type, and elder people’s utilization, and elder people’s activity in thepark, summed up the factors affecting elder people’s utilization of park and greenbelt;on the basis of the research, this paper come up with a design strategy convenientfor elder people’ s utilization of park and greenbelt: determinating reasonabledistribution model, moderate size, creating comfortable space model, combiningappropriate space elements; finally, the design strategy is put into practice--XuzhouYoshiya Pavilion Park reconstruction. Hope that this research could provide referencefor space design of elder people’s outdoor activities.
