With the continuous development of shipbuilding, the automation degree of shippower station enhances unceasingly. Power station control system is also developing fromlocal, on-site control to the direction of integrated, distributed control, especially with thewidespread use of computer, communication and network technology in ships, automaticcontrol system begins to enter a new stage of development.According to the working principle of the control system of ship power station,combined with the design requirements of82000DWT bulk carrier, a kind of automaticcontrol system based on communication network is designed using the combination of amachine and lower machine method. The system consists of PC (master station), generatorcontrol unit (slave station) and pump control unit. Master station and slave stationcommunicate through the MODBUS protocol and realize the automatic operation of theship cooperatively, while pump control unit controls important pump load automaticstarting independently. This paper completed the hardware design of82000DWT bulkcarrier automatic control system, and provided the software program of control system inmodular structure. The design include main grid electricity, loss column system withoverload, overloading asked, solution and downtime, pump load starting, etc.By using the basic principle and method of ship power system reliability, and withthe reliability analysis of82000DWT bulk carrier power station, the calculation model ofship power station steady-state availability is established and the quantitative indicators ofthe power station reliability is determined.Finally, according to the structure of ship power system, the mathematical model of aprime mover and its speed control system, synchronous generator and its excitationcontrol system and load are established, and combined with the various parameters and theactual working condition of82000DWT bulk carrier, simulation on condition such asADD/DCS during the load, generator synchronizing closing and asynchronous motor softstarter was carried out in MATLAB/Simulink simulation platform, and the stability of thecontrol system is verified through the analysis of simulation results.
