Ship as one of the most economical mode of transportation, his position intransportation is unshakable. As the development of world economy, the level ofautomation of the ship have become increasingly demanding, and ship automation reliesheavily on automated ship power station. Therefore, ship’s large-scale and automationtrends will be proposed new requirements on the level of automation of the ship powerstation. With automatic control technology, virtual instrument technology, computertechnology and field bus technology’s high-speed development, integrated use of thesehigh technology are to infiltrate the ship automation. These comprehensive use of varioustechnologies, not only can make up for the shortcomings of each other technologyalone,but also realize the functions are greater than the listed features are added. Especiallyon large vessels with multiple generators, there will a lot of information should becollected on diesel engine, circuit breakers, generators and other a variety of devices.Andthen also need to process these information for judge and bark reasonable order to dealwith all sorts of conditions.So it needs all aspects to cooperate with each other and to forma more secure,reliable and economy ship power station automatic monitoring system.On the basis of analyze and research of ship power station’s functional principle todesign the automatic monitoring system’s hardware and software,and divided the systeminto the information layer, the control layer and the device layer by the thinking ofhierarchical.The information layer mainly includes the host computer PC with LabVIEWinstalled.The control layer mainly includes PPU, Profibus-DP fieldbus, SiemensS7-300PLC. The device layer includes machine control box, diesel engines, sensors,actuators and so on. Through the comprehensive application of virtual instrumenttechnology LabVIEW, Siemens S7-300PLC/PPU control technology, Profibus-DP fieldbus technology and the communication between the layers, and completed the detailfunctional design. Programme with LabVIEW and PLC/PPU in modular way. CombineLabVIEW’s powerful visualized interface and monitoring features with PLC/PPU controlsystem’s powerful logic control,and signal transfers through the Profibus-DP fieldbuswhich has anti-interference and the fast transmission speeds ability,to achieve the goals ofship power station automatic monitoring system’s safety,reliability and economicalefficiency.A practical debugging experiments are conducted after the designs are completed.And do some rectification and improvement according the debugging results.Although thisdesign has some shortcomings,it has been realized the basically functions.
