The Investigation Of The Protection And Vitality Revival Of Zhongshan Historic Street In The City Of Qingdao

In the early1990s，the city government of Qingdao moved east and so did the centerof the city， which has influenced the city a lot by changing its structure and layoutgreatly. Zhongshan Street， one of the historic streets for over a century，the birthplaceof the traditional commercial and culture of Qingdao，is also severely affected. It was theleader of the commercial streets in Qingdao but declined rapidly in the past20years andhas not yet figured out a way to revive till now. In the meantime，the protection of historicstreets faces difficulty as well.The thesis brings to light reasons why historic streets declined by investigating theprocess of development of Qingdao and the relationship between the structure and layoutof the city and Zhongshan historic street. It obtains data by questionnaire and review frompeople shopping there and analyzes the feature and current problem of Zhongshan Streetfrom various aspect such as social，economy，culture，building characteristic，overallstyle， organization of communication and so on. Then generalizes the paradoxes andmistakes in the development orientation and strategy of Zhongshan Street， reveals thereasons why the street declines and is difficult to protect， and comes up with the coretopic of the thesis.In the process of dealing with the problem，the thesis points out that protecting thehistoric feature of Zhongshan Street is the prerequisite of reviving its vitality based on theproblem of the protection of the street and the reasons why it declines. It analyzes anddiscusses the way of protecting the street in physical level and spiritual and cultural level，points out the approaches to protect Zhongshan historic street， and then clarifies thegoal and principle of it revival. It combines together the street itself and the special layoutof the city， the function orientation in the new period and the regional characteristics inorder to make the development strategy and then figure out the way of developing whichwill benefit its revival. Finally， the thesis discusses the prospects of the protection andrevival of Zhongshan Street.
