As an advanced production methods, concepts and ideas, Lean manufacturing’s core idea is "eliminating waste" and "continuous improvement" to achieve value stream smoothly "flow" and "pull." M company’s overall production efficiency is low. There are waste and unreasonable production processes, as well as high production costs. In order to improve production management efficiency, shorten lead times, and improve customer satisfaction, how to effectively import, implement lean manufacturing to improve M company’s productivity is an urgent problem M company faces.Based on Lean Production and Time Study theory and through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, this thesis studies M company’s engine assembly line’s lean manufacturing improvements. At first, the thesis describes the status of the production line and found the problems, then designs the optimization planning and goal according to lean production ideas. It analyzes imbalanced procedure, site layout, site logistics efficiency and site management to improve this assembly line and analyzes the optimization effect by using time methods. The results show that the optimization of the engine assembly line eliminates waste and non-value-added work, reduce working hours waste and shorten the manufacturing cycle to achieve a balanced production. The productivity increased by31.17%, parts satisfied rate increased by45.3%and logistics working people reduce by21. Moreover, this study will lay a good foundation for M company’s other production lines to improve efficiency and enhance M company’s lean manufacturing initiative, as well as provide some reference to lean production specific application in other enterprises.
